Hall Island (Alaska)

Iceland is a Hall belonging to Alaska uninhabited island in the Bering Sea. The island is 4 km northwest of St. Matthew Island, from which it is separated by the Strait Sarichef. Hall is 8 km long and 16 km ². The highest point is 490 m above sea level.

The island was probably the first time in 1764 by the Russian lieutenant Are listed in the charts. Among hunters it was because of their walrus population as " Walrus Island" (Russian: " Ostrov Morzhovoy "). Commodore Joseph Billings and Gavriil Andreevich Sarytschew anchored on July 14, 1791 between St. Matthew and Hall. Since 1875, the island in the U.S. charts is listed as Hall.

On the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge belonging island the Pacific walrus (O. r. Divergens ) is native.
