History

Hall is a peasant and artisan village, which was first mentioned in 997. In its economic development, it benefited from the favorable infrastructure at the intersection of several roads and as a focus of a number of smaller villages between Ith and Vogler. The place had during the 19th century, a regional center function with a post office, agency of the Brunswick State Bank, pharmacy and merchants. A industrialization did not take place in Halle. The population increased since the mid-19th century from light and rose only during the 20th century again. The town's name comes from the Germanic Hall ( = salt) and goes to salt springs at the stone mill at Brink Hall back that were very important in the early days. Findings proved that there for 5000 years people settled. Between 1807 and 1810 consisted of the Canton Hall.
