Hallein District

The political district of Hallein is congruent with the Tennengau, one of the five districts of the province of Salzburg. To the north lies the Flachgau and south of Pongau.

History

With the emergence of a separate crown land Salzburg in 1848 was the publication of a state constitution that introduced a new system of state administration and the introduction of the Municipal Code with it. The district Hallein formed until 1896 a unit with the present Flachgau. It was not until 1895, a new district called Tennengau to relieve the large Bezirkshauptmannschaft Salzburg has been approved and completed a year later with the establishment of the Hallein district.

Administrative divisions

The district Hallein is divided into 13 municipalities, including the City and four market towns. In parentheses are the numbers of inhabitants from 1 January 2013., Stand in front of the bold numbers (see location map on the right )

The most important of the abbreviations used are:

  • M = center of the municipality
  • Stt = district
  • R = Rotte
  • W = hamlet
  • D = village
  • ZH = Scattered houses
  • Sdlg = settlement
  • E = bowery (only if they have their own town code)
