Hallstahammar Municipality

Hallstahammar is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Västmanland County and the historic province of Västmanland. The main town of the municipality is Hallstahammar.

Passing through the municipality, the European Route 18 from Stockholm to Oslo and the railway lines Västerås - Örebro and Eskilstuna - Ludvika, which cross each other in Kolbäck.

Geography

The community is geographically one of the smallest municipalities in Sweden and extends along the river Kolbäcksån which forms numerous rapids in the municipality and flows Strömsholms in the Mälaren. The rapids Sörkvarnsforsen are protected as a nature reserve. Parallel to the river runs the Strömsholms channel. Strömsholms in the south of the municipality is dominated by the castle Strömsholms, which is an equestrian center in Sweden today.

Economy

Hallstahammar is an industrial community whose industry goes back to the traditional iron working industry.
