Ham Lini

Ham Lini Vanuaroroa ( born December 8, 1951 Pentecost Iceland, New Hebrides ) is a politician and was on 11 December 2004 to 22 September 2008, Prime Minister of Vanuatu.

Life

The younger brother of the first Prime Minister of the newly independent former British-French Condominium Vanuatu, Walter Lini Hadye came late and due to the death of his brother to politics. After Walter Lini died in 1999, Ham Lini won a by-election by the parliamentary seat.

In 2003 he became chairman, founded by Walter Lini " National United Party " ( NUP ) and a candidate on 29 July 2004 unsuccessfully against Serge Vohor as prime minister. This then appointed him but already on 18 August 2004 as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior in the government of national unity.

After the fall Vohors by a no-confidence vote on 11 December 2004 Lini was then eventually even the Prime Minister. On 21 March 2006, he survived a vote of no confidence typical of the country with 30 to 20 votes.
