Hambone Willie Newbern

Hambone Willie Newbern ( probably * 1899, † probably 1947) was an American blues musician. Sometimes wrong " Newborn " is written.

Little is known about the life Newberns. He left all six shots, all made in a single session in 1929, however, including the first recording of the classic Roll and Tumble Blues.

Newbern was known in the area of Brownsville, Tennessee, where he often performed together with Yank Rachell. Sleepy John Estes was his pupil - are also his most traditional information about Newbern.

From short-tempered nature, Hambone Willie Newbern spent some time in prison. He said to have been in a fight in 1947 lost their lives.
