Hamburg Blue Devils

The HSV Hamburg Blue Devils (HBD ) are a Hamburg- American Football Club, who played his first team until the 2008 season, and again from 2012 to 2013 in the German Football League ( GFL, 1 German League ).

History

In 1991, from the Hamburg Hornets, who had emerged from a fusion of Hamburg and Harburg Dolphins Rubber Ducks, first the " Team Hamburg ", which was originally supposed to start in a planned by a television Europa League.

In 1992, the Hamburg Blue Devils eV was founded. Under the name of the team Hamburg Hamburg Hornets participated in the regular operation of the 3rd League North and achieved promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. After protests from the Braunschweig Lions in 1993 the Hamburg Hornets withdrew from the match operation. The Hamburg Blue Devils continued to play as a non- league team.

In 2003, the Hamburg Blue Devils filed for bankruptcy and were able to finish the game operating under strict conditions and with the financial support of the fans and sponsors. Nevertheless, once again the Master could be won titles.

The 2004 season was secured by entry of a new investor, which was ended by a defeat in the quarter- finals at the Marburg Mercenaries.

This series ended shortly before the start of the 2009 season, as the Blue Devils had to return the GFL license due to financial constraints.
