Hamburg cell

The Hamburg terror cell was a group of radical Islamist Muslims in Hamburg, who planned the attacks of 11 September 2001 and conducted. Alleged head of the Islamist terrorist group was Mohammed Atta, around which formed an al - Qaeda cell. Meeting of the group was an apartment in the Marie Straße 54 in Hamburg- Eißendorf who inhabited Atta, Ramzi Binalshibh and Said together with Bahaji. Members wrong but also often in the Hamburg Al- Quds mosque. All three suicide pilots of the cell belonged to the Salafist branch of Islam.

According to the findings of the Attorney General, the group was instrumental in the planning and execution of the attacks. The Higher Regional Court of Hamburg ruled in 2003 that the Hamburg cell was not an independent sub- organization that was to be regarded as an independent terrorist organization within the meaning of § 129a StGB. This view, however, was revised in the course of further proceedings.
