Hamburg-Mitte

The district Hamburg-Mitte is a district of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

Geography

The district shares the area of Hamburg horizontally from the eastern to the western frontier. For this district includes most of the Port of Hamburg and also 120 kilometers away, consisting of three located in front of Cuxhaven in the Elbe estuary islands, Neuwerk district.

Policy

The Chairman of the District Assembly is Dirk Sielmann (SPD). Deputies are Matthias Lloyd ( CDU) and Jutta Kodrzynski (GAL). The Manager, District Office by Andy Grote (SPD). In the district reigned from 2004 to 2011 a red-green coalition. After 2004, the CDU was the first time become the strongest party in the district, 2008, the SPD conquered this position back as the only district party in Hamburg. The district was from 2008 to 2011 the only one of the seven districts of Hamburg, in which the SPD was the strongest faction and a red-green majority had not. In the fall of 2010 were ever a deputy of the SPD and CDU for GAL over (previously: SPD 21, CDU 17, GAL 7, Left 6, FDP 2).

On 13 March 2012, the former CDU Group Chairman Bernd Ohde stepped over to the FDP, which thus regained since 1978 Group status for the first time. As a result, the SPD, which had an absolute majority pipped at the 2011 election, and the FDP joined on 17 April 2012 for the remainder of the parliamentary term lasting until 2014 from a coalition agreement. Beginning of June 2012, joined the deputies Gul Aydin from the Greens to the pirates, making them also reached faction status.

For the election to citizenship and the District Assembly of the Hamburg-Mitte borough is divided into two constituencies Hamburg-Mitte and Billstedt- William Castle -Finkenwerder.

The district includes the neighborhoods Bill Brook, Billstedt, Borgfelde, Finkenwerder, HafenCity, Hamburg -Altstadt, Hamm, Hammer Brook, Horn, Kleiner Grasbrookhafen, Neustadt, Neuwerk ( three islands Neuwerk, Scharhörn and Nigehörn Cuxhaven ), Rothenburgsort, St. Georg, St.. Pauli, Steinwerder, Veddel, Waltershof and William castle.

The districts Bill Werder rash and Klostertor were dissolved. Until 31 December 2010, Hamm was divided into three parts Hamm-Nord, Hamm -Mitte and Hamm -south.

Planet un Blomen in the districts of St. Pauli and Neustadt, Öjendorfer park with lake in Öjendorfer Billstedt, Elbpark Entenwerder in Rothenburgsort, Hammer Park in Hamm and Blohm's Park in Horn.
