The Hamburg Sea Devils were an American football team that played from 2005 to 2007 in NFL Europe ( NFLE ). The team was the successor to the Scottish Claymores, which einstellten the game mode with the end of the 2004 season.

History

For years, the NFLE had tried to Hamburg location, since there the Hamburg Blue Devils have been very successful for years. On 24 November 2004, the NFL Europe called the Hamburg Sea Devils as a new team in the league. The Sea Devils wore their home games at the AOL Arena ( July 2007-June 2010: HSH Nordbank Arena, and since July 2010: Imtech Arena ), which is the home of the Bundesliga football club Hamburger SV and has a capacity of 57 274 spectators. The training took place at the training ground of the GFL teams Hamburg Blue Devils on Hemmingstedter way.

The team played as the ninth European team in the 13- year history of the league, while Hamburg was the 13th city in Europe, took place in the NFLE games.

As Head Coach of the Hanseatic city dwellers were able to gain the most experienced coach of the league of its own with Jack Bicknell. Bicknell had been active as a coach in Europe since the founding of the World League in 1992 and had won more games than any other coach in league history. Previously, El Caballero had the Barcelona Dragons, with whom he had also won the 1997 World Bowl, and the Scottish Claymores coached. After Jack Bicknells resignation as head coach of the Hamburg Sea Devils, followed the former offensive coordinator of the Sea Devils Vince Martino.

March 9, 2005 Kathrin square was named managing director of the Sea Devils. She was the first woman at the helm of an NFL Europe team.
