Curiosities

Around the building at Berliner Tor 5 was since the end of construction in 2001 until the end of 2009, a scaffolding with covers. This should prevent overthrow parts of the glass façade to the ground and there could injure people. Since the completion of the building collapsed several times parts of the glass façade to the ground. People were not injured. The building has 2,400 glass plates with dimensions of 1.2 mx 1.2 m and a weight of 80 kg. This problem also affects the adjacent suite hotel, as the same materials have been used. This problem occurred because according to an article in the Hamburger Abendblatts trapped in some glass panes substance nickel sulfide, which expands at temperatures below 379 ° C slowly, bringing the glass to shatter without outside influence. Since mid-2008 all glass panes were gradually replaced.

Already during the construction of this building, there were problems, so that due to a static error collapsed part of the building shell.

Since early 2010, the work has been completed. However, the college is that you do not stand going on, it is just a building moved on. At E & I high-rise concrete is apparently chipped off of the facade and plunged down.
