Hamburger Pokal

The Hamburg Cup will be held from Hamburg Football Association since 1951/52. The official name is now oddset Cup, formerly was the name Toto Cup; common but are still the name HRV Cup or simply Cup. The winner of the oddset Cup qualifies automatically nowadays for the DFB Cup. Current title holder is the SC Victoria Hamburg, who was able to prevail in the 2013 final against FC Elmshorn.

History

The mode of competition moved steadily. In the first years of the Cup was carried out without Finals, as several clubs the North German Cup ( which as " Preliminary " to the DFB Cup acted ) were able to achieve and that was not necessarily a final to determine these associations - for this reason it is also to many seasons no official winner of the competition. Exceptions to this rule were the seasons in 1954/55, in which the ASV Bergedorf 85 won the Cup, and 1955 /56, as Borussia Harburg won the finals for itself in front of 600 spectators. In the years following the execution of the tournament saw again before no endgame. It was not until almost 20 years later, a final was held again in 1973, which won the SC Poppenbuettel.

Since 1974, the winners of each of the HRV Cup Sweeps no longer qualify for the first round of the North German Cup, but directly for the DFB Cup. Since 1981/82 Cup each season will be played with a playoff, because the number of participants was greatly reduced at the DFB Cup and thus only a Hamburg club for the DFB Cup has been approved. At this mode has up to now nothing has changed.

Mode

Today, the HRV Cup consists of eight rounds ( including the final ), where there are few byes in the first round to have an even number of clubs in the competition not later than the second round. From Round 1 to 3 of the cup competition is divided into four groups ( South / East, Bergedorf / East, North / Central and West / Pinneberg / Uetersen ) split to save the clubs high travel costs, but this also means simultaneously that certain clubs in be the first laps hardly required because of the weak opponents in their group, while in other groups may secrete higher class teams early on.

The unterklassige The club cup competition always right home. An exception in this case represents the final, which is usually played on neutral ground.

Participant

Open to the Hamburg Cup are all the clubs that are members of the Hamburg Football Association. For no minimum league is necessary ( so it may also clubs from the lowest league for the oddset Cup Report ) and the club does not even actively playing in league play ( as adopted in the seventies and eighties regularly VfL Fosite of Helgoland, which member of the HFV is the competition, although Fosite never played in league play ). However, no hamburger club for participation is required in the competition, so sometimes not even clubs participating in the Cup, although they are active in the league system.

Since the 2008/ 09 season second teams for the oddset Cup are not allowed to start because these are no longer able to qualify for the DFB Cup.
