Hamlin Train Station is a key station of category 3 in the eponymous town of Hamelin Lower Saxony resources. It is located on the routes Hanover Altenbeken and Elze - wages.

History

The station was Hameln from Hannover Altenbekener Railway (HAE ) at its newly built and opened on April 13, 1872 railway line to the east of the city created and provided with a wedge-shaped reception building, which was inaugurated on December 30, 1872. On 30 June, which is also built by the HAE railway wages - Elze was opened, and Hamlin was now crossing station. East of the station building were spread extensive trackage.

At each of the two routes, there was a main platform and each an intermediate platform, which was connected from 1902 or 1906 each through a tunnel with the reception building. On October 31 there was the railway line added on the location, which was introduced on the Altenbekener page into the station. Goods shed and free loading tracks lay north of the railway tracks. Again and again, the tracks had to be adapted to the increased traffic.

In March 1921, the station building burnt down almost completely and was rebuilt to November 1925 increased slightly. It was the reception hall, which originally was on track level, now placed at street level, so that the large staircase was no longer necessary. 1934, the station was raised at least briefly the main train station. In March and April 1945 severe damage caused to the railway station by bombing.

In May 1971, the Hanover- Altenbeken was electrified, on September 27, 1980 shut down the route location in the passenger and 1985 finally dismantled. Temporarily ended the passenger trains of the Vorwohle - Emmerthaler Railway Company in Hameln.

The station building was purchased in 2001 by the city of Hameln and works to 2006 renovated 2002 of them. Same time, the still held by the DB AG transportation facilities were renewed.

Attached to the station a large depot was south of the railway tracks with two roundhouse. While a shed was demolished between 1974 and 1977, the other is still there today. East of the station area on the route Hanover extends an extensive web site, which is still partly used as such, the northern part has however been overbuilt since the early 1990s by the Financial Services BHW with its head office.

Operation

About the S-Bahn line 5 of the S -Bahn Hannover is a half-hourly connection in the capital of Lower Saxony as well as an hourly connection to Paderborn. About the route Elze wages continues to be a hourly connection to Hildesheim and wages by the " Weser -Bahn ".

The station has six platform tracks, three each on the Altenbekener and the laborers page. The reception building has a newsagent, a kiosk, a bakery, a pub and a DB ticket sales. At the station forecourt is the Hamelin Station Bus Station, which is also the central hub of all city buses and regional buses in the area of ​​Hameln- Pyrmont.
