Hamersley Range

The Hamersley Range is a mountainous region in the Pilbara region in the Australian state of Western Australia.

It extends from the Fortescue River in the northeast 460 km to the south. Western Australia's highest peak, the 1,250 m high Mount Meharry, located in the mountain range.

The mountain is characterized by numerous gullies as Wittenoom Gorge.

The Karijini National Park (formerly " Hamersley National Park "), one of Australia's largest national park, extends around the mountains.

The mountain has rich iron ore deposits and is the main area of the iron ore mining in Australia. Along the mountain range are therefore mines, mining settlements and railway lines of the major Western Australian mining companies to find.
