Hamilton Basso
Hamilton Basso ( born September 5, 1904 in New Orleans, Louisiana as Joseph Hamilton Basso, † May 13 1964 in New Haven, Connecticut ) was an American novelist and journalist.
He was more than 20 years, " Associate Editor " of the magazine The New Yorker. He wrote 11 novels, mainly about the American South. His most famous novel is The View from Pompey 's Head, a story of a New York lawyer who returns to his southern U.S. home, to elucidate a secret about a famous writer. The book was in 1954 over a year on the bestseller list.
With his novel The Light Infantry Ball 1960 he reached the final of the U.S. National Book Award.
