Hamilton County (Kansas)
Hamilton County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Syracuse. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.
Geography
The County is located in western Kansas, adjacent to Colorado and has an area of 2584 square kilometers, of which three square miles are water. It borders in Kansas clockwise to the following counties: Greeley County, Wichita County, Kearny County, Grant County and Stanton County.
History
Hamilton County was formed on 20 March 1873. Self-administration got it on 29 January 1886. It was named after Alexander Hamilton, an American general and statesman.

According to the census of 2000, there were 2670 people in Hamilton County. Of these, 43 people were living in collective centers, the other inhabitants lived in 1054 households and 715 families. The population density was 1 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 81.65 percent White, 0.49 percent African American, 0.49 percent Native American, 0.56 percent Asian, and 15.13 percent from other races; 1.69 percent were descended from two or more races. 20.60 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

The average age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 97.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, 92.6 males.
The median income for a household was $ 32,033, and the median income for a family was $ 38,550. Males have a median income of $ 26,701, women $ 21,000. The per capita income was $ 16,484. 10.9 percent of families and 15.7 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
