Hamilton County (Kansas)

Hamilton County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Syracuse. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in western Kansas, adjacent to Colorado and has an area of ​​2584 square kilometers, of which three square miles are water. It borders in Kansas clockwise to the following counties: Greeley County, Wichita County, Kearny County, Grant County and Stanton County.

History

Hamilton County was formed on 20 March 1873. Self-administration got it on 29 January 1886. It was named after Alexander Hamilton, an American general and statesman.
