Hamilton Island (Queensland)

Hamilton Iceland is the largest inhabited island of 74 islands in the Whitsunday Islands. The island is located in the north-eastern Australia twelve kilometers off the coast of the Australian state of Queensland.

The only 7.5 square kilometers of indented island is one of the most visited islands in Australia due to its good tourist development. It has one of the few islands on the east coast over a smaller airport, which connects the island with cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns and Brisbane. From the mainland the island is accessible in the regular ferry service from Airlie Beach and Shute Harbour in about 30 minutes.

Hamilton Iceland is popular with Australian families. But even European, American and Asian tourists visit this accessible place. The island has a large resort and several hotels, the 3 star bungalow to a modern 5 star retreat. From Hamilton Iceland from July to September you can watch whales ( " whale watching "). Other popular activities include boat trips to Whitehaven Beach, diving trips in the atolls of the nearby Great Barrier Reef, as well as sailing trips, multi-day sailing and golfing. On the island, the electric golf carts can be rented here serving as a transport agent, so that no private vehicle is required.

The majority of the hilly island is a National Park, so no pets are allowed.
