Hamilton K. Wheeler

Hamilton Kinkaid Wheeler (* August 5, 1848 in Ballston, Saratoga County, New York, † July 19, 1918 in Kankakee, Illinois ) was an American politician. Between 1893 and 1895 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1852, Hamilton Wheeler came with his parents in the Kankakee County in Illinois. In his new home he attended both public and private schools. After a subsequent law degree in 1871 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he started in Kankakee to work in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. In 1884 he was a member of the Illinois Senate.

In the congressional elections of 1892 Wheeler was in the ninth constituency of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrat Herman W. Snow on March 4, 1893. Since he resigned in 1894 to further candidacy, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1895. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Wheeler practiced as a lawyer again. In 1896 and 1900 he was a delegate to the Republican National Conventions, on each of which William McKinley was nominated as a presidential candidate. He died on July 19, 1918 in Kankakee.
