Hamilton (Mississippi)

Hamilton is an unincorporated community in Monroe County, Mississippi, United States. The village was the original county seat until the Monroe County was divided in the formation of the Lowndes County to the south. The Conty seat was then further north in Aberdeen.

Part of the Monroe County School District is an elementary school, a library, a middle and high school, and two gymnasiums. Outside of school, there are opportunities for other activities, but these are compared to other places in the U.S. lower because the school is very small.

Music

The school has a band program, as well as a choir project.

Sports

Hamilton has an athletics club, a golf team, a football team (Lions ), a basketball team and a Softball Team (Lady Lions ), which already won the state championships.

Tronox

Tronox (formerly Kerr -McGee ) is one of the largest employers in Mississippi. The plant is the third largest of its kind in the world. In the company of titanium ( IV) oxide is produced, which is mainly used as a white pigment in paint. Tronox currently has 430 employees and produces 225,000 tons of titanium (IV ) oxide annually. It makes $ 41 million in annual revenue.
