Hamilton Palace

The Hamilton Palace was stately country seat of the Dukes of Hamilton until 1919. He was north-east of Hamilton in the valley of the River Clyde. Here, the palace was the center of an extensive garden whose centerpiece was an over five kilometers extending Ave.

Hamilton Palace was the largest non- royal residence in the UK, possibly in Europe.

Built in 1695, the ground began in the early 19th century to sag by mining operations, after which the family was forced to move to Dungavel House. The castle was demolished in 1921.

Today on the former base of the Hamilton Palace are a sport and a shopping center.
