The hammer Bach is a 2.4 km-long, left-sided or northwesterly inflow of re Ritz in the urban areas of Dresden and the Saxon Switzerland & Eastern Ore Mountains located in the district of Freital in Saxony. Its name probably derives from a former resident of hammer hammer mill.

Course

The hammer creek rises in the southern district of Dresden Zöllmen and flows in a north- west - south-easterly direction into the Doehlen pool and from there through the urban area of Freital. In its settlement hammer on Kohldorfer district west of Cherry mountain brook is dammed to hammer pond. Then it flows through some residential areas and finally ends in the amount of the former railway station Zauckeroder the disused narrow gauge railway Freital- Potschappel - Nossen in which there coming from the west restart Ritz.

Use

The hammer pond was built by the owners of the inn Kohldorf as a swimming pool in the 1920s. The device was not adopted as desired, so that the bathers had to be discontinued.

Since the opening of the Federal Highway 17 between the junction Dresden -West and the Dresden - Gorbitz the Hammerbach is used as a drainage channel for the roadway. This also a significant increase in the water level was associated with severe weather.
