Hampartsoum Boyadjian

Hampartsum Boyajian (Armenian Համբարձում Պոյաճյան Hambardzowm Pohachhan; * 1867 in Xaçin, Cilicia, Ottoman Empire; † August 24, 1915 in Kayseri, Ankara vilayet ), also known by his nom de guerre or Murad Murad Medz ( " Murad the Great") was an Armenian Fedai and leading politicians of the Ottoman Hunchak party.

Biography

His older brother was the Huntscha crate leader Medzn Girayr. Murad himself joined the Hunchak party when he was a medical student in Constantinople Opel. In 1890 he took part in the Kumkapı demonstration. In 1894 he was a leader of the resistance of Sason. He exhorted the people of Sasun to fight blood in defense of their mountains and houses to the last drop. Turkish authorities detained and tortured him, and in 1896 Murad was exiled to Tripoli. During his exile, the National Convention of the Socialist Huntscha boxes Murad as a member of its Central Committee chose. Murad was one of the most popular figures of the Armenian liberation movement, and several revolutionary groups campaigned for his release. In 1906 he escaped from prison in 1908 and returned back to Konstantin Opel. He was then elected a member of the Ottoman Parliament for the Adana region.

Murad was declared on April 24, 1915 as thousands of others from the Young Turk government for undesirable. He was among the first to be arrested in the deportation of the Armenian elite. During the eve of the Armenian genocide, he was severely tortured in prison. After a trial in July he was hanged on August 24, 1915, twelve of his friends in Kayseri.
