Hampont

Hampont is a commune with 199 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Château- Salins Château- Salins and Canton.

Geography

The municipality is located on the Little Hampont seille in Saulnois, five kilometers north-east of Château- Salins at an altitude 207-321 m above sea level. The 11.23 km ² comprehensive municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park of Lorraine.

History

First mentioned in the 12th century as Hampons, then Hudingen (1594 ). The place was 1915-18 the Germanized name Hudingen or Hüdingen 1940-44.
