Hampstead tube station

Hampstead is an underground station of the London Underground in the London Borough of Camden. It lies on the boundary of Travelcard Zones 2 and 3, at the junction of Heath Street and Hampstead High Street. In the year 2011 there were 4.31 million passengers these of the Northern Line station. A little more than half a kilometer to the northeast is the extensive Hampstead Heath.

The opening took place on June 22, 1907 by the Charing Cross, Euston and Hampstead Railway, one of the two predecessor companies of the Northern Line. Before the opening of the station name Heath Street was still provided. This name is also seen on the restored wall tiles. With a depth of 58.5 meters Hampstead Heath is the lowest-lying under the ground station of the entire London Underground network. The elevator shaft is at 55.2 meters the longest.
