Hamza ibn-'Ali ibn-Ahmad

Hamza ibn Ali ibn Ahmad (. Arabic حمزة بن علي بن أحمد, DMG Hamza b ʿ Alī Aḥmad b, . * 985 in Zuzan, died in Mecca, probably 1021) was (originally ) an Isma'ili scholar and is considered the real founder of the Druze religion.

Hamza " the Filzmacher " (al- Labbad ) immigrated at a young age of Khorasan from the Fatimid capital Cairo, where reigned since 996, the eccentric Imam - Caliph al -Hakim. In the Raidan Mosque before the Victory Gate ( Bāb an-Nasr ) he held teaching meetings and announced to his growing circle of disciples - as previously Hasan ibn Haidara al - Farghani al - Achram - that al- Hakim, the incarnation of God, and thus Islamic law was repealed. The 30 received missive, in which the "leader of the adepts " held this heretical doctrine spread, ( the oldest dated from the year 1017 ) are the first two volumes of the canon of sacred Druze writings. For Hamza's supporters included the Turk Anusch - Tegin ad - Darzi, after the Druzen are named. When al -Hakim disappeared in 1021 and increased drusen persecution began, Hamza fled to Mecca, where he was eventually executed.
