Hamza Yusuf

Hamza Yusuf Hanson (born 1958 in Walla Walla, Washington, United States) is an American Islamic theologian.

He is co-founder of Zaytuna College in Berkeley and is regarded as the most influential " west " Islamic scholar. In addition to 137 other Islamic scholars, he also signed the letter " A Common Word Between Us and You ." To leaders of Christian Churches

Life

Hamza Yusuf was born as Mark Hanson in 1958 in Walla Walla, Washington and grew up in Northern California. In seven children, he is the oldest. His father was a professor of humanities, his mother fought for environmental protection and human rights. In 1977, he converted to Islam.
