Han (state)

The State of Han (Chinese韩国/韩国, Pinyin Hanguo ) existed in China at the time of the Warring States, with its capital Xinzheng (south of the Zhou capital Chengzhou, today Luoyang ). Its territory formed the passage from the state to the Qin North China Plain. This made it a prime target for the military operations of Qin. Han made ​​many attempts to strengthen reforms, particularly by the legal scholar Shen Buhai. However, Han was the stronger neighbor Qin never surpass and was conquered the first of the Warring States Period of Qin.

The Qin invasion in 260 BC in the Shangdang Commandery led to one of the costliest battles of this time, the Battle of Changping.
