Hana Highway

The Road to Hana (German road to Hana ) (Hawaii State Route 360) runs along the north coast of Maui ( Hawaii) from the main town of Kahului east across 54 Bridges to Hana. The village has 709 inhabitants ( as of 2000), and an area of 9 km ².

The road is about 80 km long. On the way to Hana, one passes among others the Koolau Forest Reserve, a Worth visiting rainforest.

Most points at this very twisty track are Twin Falls and Falls with Waikamoi idyllic bathing ponds. The road also offers spectacular views across the valleys of Wailua and Waianapanapa.

Hana is a sleepy ranch town. Queen Kaahumanu, the favorite wife of King Kamehameha I. was born in 1768 here.

In the further course of the road ( Hawaii State Route 31), which is in relatively poor condition from Hana, you can visit at Kipahulu Oheo Gulch (Seven Sacred Pools ), a cascade- like sequence of smaller waterfalls and the associated bathing pools that the stepwise sea fall off. Above the road leads through various trails to some of the larger waterfalls, including the Waimoku Falls.
