Hancock County (West Virginia)

Ds Hancock County is a county located in the U.S. state of West Virginia. In the census in 2010, the County had 30 676 inhabitants and a population density of 142.7 inhabitants per square kilometer. The the county seat ( county seat ) is in New Cumberland.

The Hancock County is located in the Northern Panhandle, and is the northernmost county of West Virginia, is bordered in the east by Pennsylvania, on the west by Ohio, where the limit by the Ohio River is formed, and has an area of 229 square kilometers, of which 14 square kilometers of water are. History

The Hancock County was formed on January 15, 1848 from parts of Brooke County. It was named for John Hancock (1737-1793), President of the Second Continental Congress and a signatory to the American Declaration of Independence, and first governor of Massachusetts.
