Hâncu monastery

The monastery Hincu (also: Hâncu, Hâncul ) is available in Moldova in Nisporeni Raion, near the village of Bursuc, some 40 kilometers (direct distance ) north- west of the capital Chişinău away. The monastery is a national monument.

It was built by Mihalcea Hincu after he had escaped with his daughter Paraschiva the Tatars. On the run he had vowed to build a monastery if they escaped. At the point at which the escape was successful, now stands the monastery. In 1678 its walls were made of wood, only in 1835 a summer house was built of stone.

In the period 1956-1990, the monastery of the Soviet Union was closed and used the site as a recreational institution of the Ministry of Health. 1990 applied for the residents of the neighboring villages the reopening of the monastery. The monastery was generously extended, there was a winter building, a large Orthodox church under construction.

In the vicinity of the monastery there are several sources of natural mineral water.
