Handball at the 1980 Summer Olympics
The XXII. Olympic Games in 1980 two competitions were held in handball: For men and for women.
Olympic champion in the men was the crew of the German Democratic Republic (GDR ) before the USSR and Romania. In the women's team of the USSR won the gold medal ahead of Yugoslavia and the GDR.
The matches were played in two places: In the sports palace Sokolniki ( in the center of Moscow) and Dynamo Sports Palace in Khimki ( in the north- west of Moscow ). The competition began on July 20, 1980 and ended with the final on 30 July 1980. 100 493 spectators watched the games in the Olympic Handball competition.
