Handbook of North American Indians

The Handbook of North American Indians is the ethnological Standard Encyclopedia of the North American Indians. Is published by the prestigious Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC. Responsible distinguished William C. Sturtevant. Written it is in English.

The work is divided into twenty volumes, which appeared first in 1978. Five volumes are still pending, Volume 16 ( Technology and Visual Arts) should appear as the next band.
