Händel-Werke-Verzeichnis

The Handel - Werke-Verzeichnis (HWV ) is the most common directory of the works of George Frideric Handel. It is arranged thematically and presented 1978-1986 by Bernd Baselt as a directory of the works of George Frideric Handel Handel in the yearbook ( HJB ).

Since then, there have been some additions and corrections, the original numbering is still used.

The thematic catalog represents respectively the opening bars of each plant and provides comprehensive information (eg on manuscript sources, early printed books, etc.).

Earlier directories exist, inter alia, by John Mainwaring (London 1760), the Dt. translated by Johann Mattheson (Hamburg 1761), Charles Burney (London, 1785), German v. JJ Eschenburg (Berlin / Stettin, 1785), WS Rockstro (London 1883), WC Smith ( HJB 1956), AC Bell ( 1972).
