Handley Page Hyderabad

The Handley Page HP24 was a four-seat biplane Hyderabad, which was built as a heavy night bomber Handley Page for the British Royal Air Force ( RAF).

History and construction

The Hyderabad was for military purposes by one of the first true passenger aircraft from 1919, which was derived W.8 and should meet the performance requirements of a bomber (first flight in October 1923 ). She had the first large aircraft in the world automatic slats, but was on the, dispensed with the Mk I, the last heavy bombers of the RAF in pure wood.

Delivery of the first 38 aircraft was sluggish. As the first Squadron took over the No.. 99, the Hyderabad followed in December 1925. Was only in 1928, the No. 10 Squadron with the conversion. 1928 and 1929 was followed by two units of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force, the no. 502 and no. 503 Squadron.

The Hyderabad was replaced by the Handley Page Hinaidi. The decommissioning took place in 1930 and 1933 with the RAF in the AAF.
