Hāngi

Hangi ( pronunciation: [ ha ː ni ] ) is a word from the language of the Māori of New Zealand. It describes a traditional way of cooking.

There is a hole it dug into the ground, are placed in the hot stones on these wrapped in large leaves food (mainly large pieces of meat ) is placed, which are in turn covered with leaves and then covered with earth. After several hours, the food is cooked and can be eaten.

Nowadays Hangi is a tourist attraction.
