Hank Brown

George Hanks " Hank " Brown ( born February 12, 1940 in Denver, Colorado ) is a retired American politician of the Republican Party, who represented the state of Colorado in both chambers of Congress.

Hank Brown made his college degree in 1961 and graduated in 1969 from the Law School of the University of Colorado at Boulder. He graduated also from the master of law at George Washington University. From 1962 to 1966 he served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He was a fighter pilot and volunteered for use in Vietnam.

His political career began with the membership of the Senate from Colorado 1972-1976. In 1980, Brown was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served until 1991, before moving to the Senate within the Congress. In the election in November 1990, he sat down with 55.7 percent of the vote against Democrat by Josie Heath. After one term, he decided not to run again in 1996.

After Brown had held office between 1998 and 2002 as president of the University of Northern Colorado, he was appointed in April 2005 as temporary successor of Elizabeth Hoffman as president of the University of Colorado system. The governing body decided in May 2006 to nominate him as a permanent president. In January 2007, Brown announced then already back his resignation from the post to which he ultimately took place on March 10, 2008.
