Hanlin Academy

The Hanlin Academy (翰林院; Pinyin: Hanlin Yuan, literally "brush Forest Academy ") was founded in the 8th century in Beijing in China. She was a device which stated, inter alia writing and literary tasks for the imperial court. Only the finest scholars were allowed to be members of the Academy. One of their main tasks were decisions on the interpretation of the Confucian classics. These formed the basis for the tests, which regulated the access to the higher ranks of civil servants.

The academy existed until the Xinhai Revolution of 1911.
