Hanns Goebl

Hanns Goebl ( born June 23, 1901 in Munich, † August 12, 1986 ) was a German sculptor, who worked for the Nymphenburg porcelain manufactory. During the 1930s and 1940s he has performed several works on behalf of the Nazis.

Goebl was born in Munich. From 1924 to 1929 he was a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, including as a student of Joseph Wackerle. He got a scholarship for the Villa Massimo in Rome. After his return to Germany he went to Nymphenburg porcelain factory, where he carried out numerous minor works, such as Figures of soldiers. 1932 his works were exhibited at the Villa Romana in Florence. In 1935, he worked at the Prussian Academy of Sciences in Berlin, 1940 and 1941 at the Kunsthalle Mannheim. In 1941 he designed the national party eagle. He also created a bust of Rudolf von Sebottendorf.

After the Second World War Goebl creating sculptures in restrained abstraction and took further part in art exhibitions, including at the Great Art Exhibition at Haus der Kunst in Munich.

In 1976 he received the honorary prize of Schwabing Art Prize.
