Hannu Mikkola

Hannu Olavi Mikkola ( born May 24, 1942 in Joensuu ) is a retired Finnish rally driver.

Together with Michèle Mouton in 1981 he was the first rider, who started with an Audi quattro in a World Cup Rally.

In 1983 he was together with his co-driver Arne Hertz World Rally Champion in an Audi quattro. Thus, the Audi was the first car that won the World Rally Championship with four-wheel drive. At the Rally Argentina 1985, he won in a Group B Audi the hitherto fastest rally in the motorsport history. This record should be more than fifteen years, inventory, before it was broken in a number of World Rally Cars.
