Hans Aeschbacher

Hans Aeschbacher ( born January 18, 1906 in Zurich, † 27 January 1980 Rumlikon ) was a Swiss painter and sculptor.

Life

Hans Aeschbacher was born on 18 January 1906 in Zurich. He trained as a printer before he began teaching himself to painting. The subjects of his paintings are up in the thirties landscape and portrait painting.

In 1936, at the age of thirty years, Aeschbacher, he focused on sculpture. His first sculptures are still figurative and usually molded from terracotta and plaster. In 1938 came Aeschbacher's first stone sculpture. After 1945 his sculpture was abstract, his sculptures were now being made of stone or metal. In the 1950s, his sculptures were monumental. 1953 saw his first lava sculpture a new creative phase in Hans Aeschbacher's artistic work.

Aeschbacher had several solo exhibitions in the 1950s. In 1958 his works were shown at the Venice Biennale. 1959 Aeschbacher participated in the documenta II in 1964 and the documenta III in Kassel. Hans Aeschbacher was active until shortly before his death as an artist. He died on 27 January 1980 in Rumlikon in the Swiss canton of Zurich.
