Hans am Ende

Hans am Ende ( born December 31, 1864 in Trier, † July 9, 1918 in Stettin) was a German Impressionist painter and co-founder of Worpswede.

Biography

Family, education and vocational

Hans am Ende spent his childhood in Trier, where his father was a pastor. 1872 the family moved to Kirchscheidungen at Naumburg ( Saale) where his father was the pastor held until his death in 1888. The study of maturity he acquired in the country Pforta at Bad Kösen. Then he studied with Wilhelm von Diez at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. Here he met his friend Fritz Mackensen, with whom he had a joint military time. Worpswede

Carl Vinnen did not move to a collaboration.

Last years

During the First World War, Hans announced at the end volunteered for military. He served in the Infantry Regiment "Lübeck" ( Hanseatic 3 ) No 162 During his military service on the Western Front, many ink sketches were made. Examples can be found under "works".

On April 10, 1918 Hans was severely wounded at Messines in Belgium at the end and died in the hospital at Stettin his injuries. He was buried in Bremen. His grave stone was brought to 1945 Worpsweder cemetery and placed next to his wife.

From the first Worpsweder painters is the least known at the end about Hans. The Kunsthalle Bremen has some paintings and a collection of his etchings.
