Hans Carl Knudtzon

Hans Carl Knudtzon ( born January 29, 1751 Bredstedt, North Friesland, † December 16, 1823 in Trondheim, Norway) was a merchant and politician and member of the Norwegian Parliament ( Storting ).

Life

At the age of 16 he came to Trondheim in Norway and received by the court agents Broder Lysholm, the shipowner was not only, but also with corn, wood, ore and fish acted in teaching. After Lysholms death in 1772 he ran the business continued and it took over in 1797. Knudtzon knew numerous volunteer activities and supported many local initiatives. In the years 1802-06 he was honorary mayor of Trondheim. In 1814 was Knudtzon first representative of Trondheim, the Norwegian Parliament ( Storting ). He was a member of the delegation that traveled to Stockholm in 1814, as the Union was terminated with Denmark and the union with Sweden advised.

Knudtzon married Karen Mueller. The couple had five sons and three daughters.
