Hans-Dieter Pophal

Hans -Dieter Pophal ( born November 22, 1937 in Berlin ) is a German art jumper and trainers.

Sports career

Hans -Dieter Pophal was several times GDR champion in springboard diving from the 3 -meter board as 1958, 1960-1967. In the European Swimming Championships 1962 in Leipzig, he became vice - European champion from the 3- m board.

His mother Olga Jensch Jordan coached him at TSC Berlin, he arrived here in 1960 an eighth place finish at the Summer Olympic Games in Rome. His greatest sporting achievements was the fourth place at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo in 1964.

He later worked as a coach at TSC Berlin and as a swimming instructor.

Pophal is married to Heidi Jensch, the daughter of Olga Jensch Jordan and has two daughters. In the early 2000s he was promoting double heart.
