Hans Dulfer

Hans Dulfer ( born May 28, 1940 in Amsterdam, Netherlands) is a Dutch jazz saxophonist (tenor ).

Life and career

The mid-1950s he took his first tenor saxophone at hand. At the age of 17, began his musical career that continues to this day. Dulfer played, among others, Theo Loevendie Quartet. Jazz was his first love, and it will be his last. However, this does not mean (as he himself emphasized ) that these (Jazz) is limited - disposition to a historical period. Hans Dulfer disregarded everything that is done in defined genres and not made. He is referred to as ' Master Chef of the crossover '. His style could be called " Jazzmetaltriphopfunkraprockgroove ". Hans Dulfer absorbs everything that is musically hip at the moment. He tried Punk, only to find that deep inside he was a already a lifelong punk.

In his native Amsterdam Dulfer is a legend. There, he has influenced generations of musicians and also works up to now happy to work with young musicians. Not only in the Netherlands Hans Dulfer is known internationally, he enjoys great success. Especially in Japan, where his performances are like a big party, he enjoys great popularity.

Hans Dulfer in 1969 awarded the prestigious Wessel Ilcken Prijs. He is the father of Candy Dulfer, who is also a successful saxophonist.
