Hans Fallada Prize

The Hans Fallada Prize of the city of Neumünster is a literary prize, which is awarded every two years since 1981 in the rule. With it, the city wants to honor young authors from the German-speaking countries treat problems of the present politico- social background as the namesake of Hans Fallada in their works (quoted by the award guidelines).

Outside occasion for the foundation of the prize was the 50th anniversary of the publication of Fallada's novel peasants, big shots and bombs. In this novel, Fallada, who lived as an employee of the General scoreboard Neumünster Neumünster in 1928 describes events at the Schleswig-Holstein Country folk movement, including the bloody runny demonstration of Schleswig -Holstein farmers and the subsequent process, which took place in Neumünster in 1929.

The award is endowed with 10,000 euros; in procurement of two winners, the endowment is halved.
