Hans Furler

Hans Furler ( born June 5, 1904 in Lahr, † June 29, 1975 in Achern ) was a German politician of the CDU.

Life and career

After graduating from the Humanistic Gymnasium in Lahr studied Hans Furler, the Roman Catholic faith was law at the Albert -Ludwigs- University of Freiburg, the Humboldt University in Berlin and at the Ruprecht -Karls- University of Heidelberg. In 1925 he was the first legal state examination, in December 1928 the state exam. Just six months earlier, he was with Gerhard Anschütz in Heidelberg with the dissertation The police emergency law and indemnification obligation of the state to Dr. iur. doctorate. Initially he worked as a lawyer in Pforzheim, but took back in 1930 alongside a lecturer for patent rights to. In 1932 he completed his habilitation at the University of Karlsruhe with the work ownership, secondary meaning, forfeiture in competition law, in 1940 he was appointed adjunct professor of Intellectual Property and Copyright. From 1941 to 1944 he was conscripted to the German civil administration in occupied Alsace.

Hans Furler in 1934 occurred in the SA, and this membership from 1938 also a member of the Nazi Party. From 1945 to the end of his denazification process in 1948, he worked as a legal adviser in the paper mill of his parents, the August Koehler AG in Oberkirch (Baden). In 1948, he opened a new law firm in Freiburg. From 1950 he taught at the Albert -Ludwigs- University of Freiburg. From 1958 to 1966 he was honorary president of the German Council of the European Movement.

Party

Furler occurred in 1952, the CDU. In the same year he became chairman of the Economic Policy Advisory Board of the National Association of Baden.

Member of Parliament

Furler belonged to the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1972. In 1953 he took over the national list of the CDU Baden- Württemberg in parliament and from 1957 he represented the constituency of Offenburg. From 1953 to 1957 he was deputy. Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Protection of Intellectual Property. Of 10 May 1957 to the end of the second term he was chairman of the Special Committee " Common Market / Euratom ". From 29 January 1959 to 25 May 1960, he was Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs.

He was also from July 1, 1955 to March 19, 1958 a member of the Common Assembly of the European Coal and Steel Community ( ECSC ) in 1956 as its president. From 1958 to 1973 he was a member of the European Parliament from 1960 to 1962 as its president until 1973 as Vice President.

Awards

Furler was in 1958 awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit. On July 3, 1962 he has his permanent address Oberkirch awarded honorary citizenship.

On May 22, 1976, the new building of the school was opened in his home town of Oberkirch, which has since been named after him: Hans- Furler -Gymnasium.
