Hans-Georg Backhaus

Hans -Georg Backhaus ( born 1929 ) is a German economist and philosopher and one of the leading scientist in the field of Marx's theory of value. Already in his student years began a longstanding collaboration with Helmut Reichelt. Both are considered the founders of the new reading of Marx.

Life

During his studies ( among others, Theodor W. Adorno) in the 60's he began to deal with the Marxian theory of value. Since the 70s he published several essays on Marx's economic critique.

He worked as a lecturer at the Universities of Frankfurt and Bremen, and was at the foundation of the " Marx- colloquium ", out of which 1994, the Marx- Gesellschaft eV was based in Hamburg, in particular.
