Hans-Georg Beyer

Hans -Georg Beyer ( born September 3, 1956 in Stalin City ) is a former German handball player.

With his club ASK Vorwärts Frankfurt the back court player in 1975 and 1982 two times GDR champion. In 1975 he also won the European Champions Cup. At the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980, he scored in the final against the Soviet Union in continuation of the winning goal and was thus with the East German National Olympic champion. Overall, the right-winger played 46 internationals for East Germany.

In 1982, he had to end his career after his second disc surgery. In 1980 he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver.

Hans -Georg Beyer is the brother of the Olympic champion from 1976 in the shot put Udo Beyer and the discus Gisela Beyer.
