Hans Georg Feichtinger

Hans Georg Feichtinger ( born June 16, 1951 in Wiener Neustadt) is an Austrian mathematician. He is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna.

Feichtinger studied mathematics at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1974 with Hans Reiter about subalgebras of L ^ 1 (G). He is chief editor of the Journal of Fourier Analysis and Applications, Springer Verlag.

Feichtinger founded late 80s with Karlheinz Gröchenig and Thomas Strohmer include the Working Group NuHAG (Numerical Harmonic Analysis Group ) at the Faculty of Mathematics, University of Vienna, where a large number of visiting researchers and several funded by the European Union research projects were housed and.

His work focuses on the field of harmonic analysis, especially the time-frequency analysis. According to him the Feichtinger algebra, and the Feichtinger conjecture are named.
