Hans Jelmoli

Hans Jelmoli (born 17 January 1877 in Zurich, † May 6, 1936 in Zurich ) was a Swiss composer and pianist.

Life

Hans Jelmoli came from a Swiss family that had founded a famous, eponymous company and department store in Switzerland. Musically, he was trained at Bernhard Scholz, Iwan Knorr at the Hoch Conservatory and Engelbert Humperdinck in Frankfurt. He received piano lessons from Ernst Engesser. 1898-1899 he worked as a third conductor at the Stadttheater in Mainz, and from 1899 to 1900 as assistant conductor at the Stadttheater Würzburg. Back in Zurich, Jelmoli was there as a pianist, composer and music critic ( 1906-1911 for the Zurich Post) operates. In 1907 he married Martha Henggeler. In 1920, Hans Jelmoli member of the selection committee of the Academy of Music in Zurich.
